Using Shatterfield Data :: MetaTrader

Shatterfield COT Data now works with all versions of MetaTrader 3.x and 4.x . That means that no matter what broker's version of MetaTrader you have, the data will chart correctly with your software on the same chart with your price data! And that means you can now use COT data in all your analysis.
Using COT Data with MetaTrader 3.x

We're still working on MetaTrader 3.x indicators, and we hope to have them finished soon. In the meanwhile, for those of you running version 3 that would like to use COT data now, we suggest installing (not upgrading to) MetaTrader 4 along side your version 3. You will then be able to use MetaTrader 4 as your analysis software, while executing trades with version 3. We have tested this, and they run side by side well. As a matter of fact, MetaTrader 4's charting capabilities are far superior to 3's, and much easier to use. So by using both versions this way, you'll be getting the best of both worlds!

Visit your broker's website to download and install the latest 4.x version.
Using COT Data with MetaTrader 4.x
  • MetaTrader 4 - COT Indicators [MT4-COT.exe] 87kb :: [Download]

Download the indicators for the COT for MetaTrader 4 to your desktop and run that self-extracting installation as well. Browse to the folder where your MetaTrader 4 indicators reside, usually in:

C:\Program Files\experts\indicators\

Then unzip the files.

Once this is done, you should have the indicators available to MetaTrader 4.

To use the indicators...

  1. Drag the COT indicator you want to use into the chart that you want to apply it to.
  2. When the indicator's dialog box comes up, click on the 'Inputs' tab.
  3. The value for Name is defaulted to EUROFX. Double click on the EUROFX text and it will allow you to change the symbol of the COT data that you want to plot.
  4. Once entered, click anywhere else and then click on OK. The indicator group for the symbol you selected will then plot on in its own window on the chart.

    5. The symbols to use for Forex are as follows:
